Topic: Clinical Methods in exotic pet medicine (Introduction)

Aims: Continuation of the introduction to the main aspects of the correct clinical evaluation with special emphasis in blood sampling methods

4th year:

Topic:Block course Clinical Methods in exotic pets, wildlife, zoo animals and fishes
Duration:2 weeks
Type:Lectures, case studies, journal paper analyses, student presentations, practical training 40h
Aims:Basic theoretical and practical knowledge in anatomy, biology and clinical examination of exotic pets, wildlife and fish. Presentations of main diseases in rabbits and rodents, wildlife and fishes. Introduction to zoo animal medicine. Special emphasis on critical evaluation of published data and legal issues.

Connection to Vetsuisse Faculty Berne:This 2 weeks course is a joined course with the Division for Zoo Animal and Fish Pathology (Prof. H. Segner) It is teached both at Bern and Zuerich (by rotation of teaching staff)

Topic: Advanced clinical methods in exotic pet medicine
Duration: 18h

Aims: Improved knowledge in avian, reptile, ferret medicine and surgery.
